What does the course cover?

Modules explore subjects such as the world of education, the curriculum, teaching and learning, ways of supporting learners with additional educational needs and psychological, social and emotional influences on behaviour.  Students cover four modules per year; each is worth 30 credits.

In a typical week, learning takes place through a combination of lectures, seminars and one-to-one tutorials as well as independent study. Assessment takes place through a variety of coursework.

Entry Requirements
  • One A Level or equivalent vocational Level 3 qualification such as City & Guilds Level 3 or BTEC National Diploma
  • GCSE English language/literature at grades A*-C (9-4) or equivalent. Functional Skills may be accepted.
  • You must be aged 18 or over at the start of the course and working or volunteering at least two days a week in an educational setting e.g. in classrooms as a learning support assistant or teaching assistant, or in related roles, such as a learning mentor linked to schools or colleges.
